The project

Disclosure is an app for music lovers who like to discover the stories and creative connections within the music world, immersing themselves in a complete listening experience.

Problem statement

Many music fans want to deepen their knowledge of the artists, music genres and meanings of the songs they listen to, but often feel limited by traditional music streaming platforms, which focus mainly on music playback without providing detailed information about the tracks and artists.

Responsabilities

My responibilities were conducting foundational and design research, user research, information architecture, wireframing & prototyping, usability testing, visual design, interaction design, and illustrations.

The process

The process took place over three months, during which I followed the project from start to finish. I started conducting the foundational research, and I ended with the phase of executive development.

Solution

Design a music streaming service that allows users to access real-time lyrics, stories, reviews and insights at the same time as they listen to the music. Fans can explore lyrics interactively via line-by-line annotations they can read, create, and edit as part of a worldwide knowledge project.

The research

The main goal of the research phase was to get a clear picture of who users are, their needs, thoughts and feelings and the challenges they are facing.

Competitive audit

The competitive analysis provided strategic insights about features, functions, flows, and feelings evoked by the design solutions of main competitors.

User persona

I interviewed users to get insights into how they look. I picked out three personas: Bella (34 years old) Micheal (21 years old), and Emma (29 years old).

User journey

Through the user journey, I analyzed the logical sequence of interaction between user and service, using a synthetic representation of all the phases.

User flow

I made the user flow explicit through diagrams that display the complete path the user takes using the product. The user flow laid out all the user’s movement through the application.

Affinity diagram

After collecting and ordering the results of the usability test, I organized the most important data into groups with common themes or relationships.

Design overview

After conducting a second usability testing session with our primary users, to validate whether the new designs would solve their problems, I corrected the high-fidelity prototypes again.
